Nottingham: Green Street in The Meadows
Green Street in The Meadows is an £8 million scheme by Blueprint comprising 38 high quality three and four bedroom homes in the Green Street/Fraser Road area on the Trent Embankment in Nottingham. The first 13 homes are complete and the scheme will complete by spring 2012.
Built by Lovell and designed by Nottingham architects Marsh Grochowski, the houses will achieve level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) and Building for Life Gold standard. They are designed to maximise use of natural light and minimise energy consumption and will have levels of insulation and air tightness which far exceed current building regulations. They also have whole-house ventilation systems and natural heat stacking to maximise warmth in winter and cooling in summer. The sustainability factor extends to building materials, with the red bricks being locally made in Leicester and all timber being FSC approved. All of the homes have ground-level court yards and large roof terraces, while most will also have balconies and private car ports/garages for parking.
Green Street has been designed to give residents the traditional values of urban street living - a place where people know their neighbours, are proud of their environment and can walk safely down well designed tree-lined streets next to a new traffic calmed access road. A new pedestrian link with the Victoria Gardens is also being provided. Green Street is being marketed nationally by estate agent Savills and locally by Royston & Lund. The houses will be priced in the £170,000 - £230,000 range.
